Yes, that is a powerful song. Thank you for reminging me of it. Here is one of my favorites with a similar thought, but spun from a christian angle (kinda appropriate for this weekend).
Note that Evanescense is not a "Christian" band, just that this song references...well please read on to find out. Singer is Amy Lee. She has a haunting vocal style that is versatile.

Fallen is a very, very good CD. I highly recommend it.
The rest of my post is from that link.
On Fallen this track is titled 'Tourniquet' but on 2002 Demos it's called 'My Tourniquet'.
This version starts with atmospheric noises and a faint drumbeat. Layered vocals by Amy are in italics.
This track was originally by Soul Embraced and was reworked by Evanescence.
I tried to kill the pain
But only brought moreso much more
I lay dying
And I'm pouring, Crimson regret and betrayal
I'm dyingdying
Prayingpraying
Bleedingbleeding
And screaming
Am I too lost to be saved?
Am I too lost?
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
Do you remember me?
Lost for so long
Will you be on the other side?
Will you forget me?
I'm dyingdying
Prayingpraying
Bleedingbleeding
And screaming
Am I too lost to be saved?
Am I too lost?
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
Return to me salvation
(shouted) I want to die!
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
My God, my tourniquet
Return to me salvation
My wounds cry for the grave
My soul cries for deliverance
Will I be denied?
Christ - tourniquet - my suicide
